A dedicated blade sharpening guide for planes and chisels, assisting with difficult sharpening tasks—a popular item among craftsmen.
A home sharpening tool to assist with sharpening hard-to-sharpen plane and chisel blades.
・Secures the blade for sharpening at a consistent angle.
・Special blade clamp securely holds the tool.
・Includes rollers for smooth, level movement.
・Handle allows operation without direct blade contact.
・Improved design for easier grip and force application compared to previous models.
<Usage Method 1 [Attaching the Tool]>
1. Insert the tool into the sharpener.
Align the sharpening surface of the tool horizontally with the whetstone while lightly tightening the tool clamp screw (just enough to prevent the tool from falling).
2. Check for gaps
Flip the sharpener over. Place a ruler against the sharpening surface of the blade and the roller to check for gaps. If there is a gap, slightly loosen the blade clamp screw. Adjust by sliding the blade back and forth until the gap disappears.
3. Adjust to eliminate gaps at center and both ends
Place the ruler against the center and both ends of the blade's sharpening surface. Adjust each position until no gaps remain.
<Usage Method 2 [Adjustment Method] After attaching the blade, sharpen it several times on the coarse stone to check the sharpening surface.>
1. If sharpening marks appear predominantly on either the left or right side of the sharpening surface
The blade may be skewed to one side. If marks are more on the left, move the plane blade to the right. If more on the right, move the plane blade to the left.
2. If sharpening marks appear concentrated at either the tip or heel of the sharpening surface
If sharpening marks are concentrated at the tip, insert the blade tip slightly deeper. If sharpening marks are concentrated at the heel, adjust by pulling the blade tip back slightly.
3. After adjustment, tighten the screw firmly
After adjustment, sharpen several times. If sharpening marks appear across the entire sharpening surface or at its center, tighten the blade clamp screw firmly.
