Dazai Osamu, who remains popular even today, is, for better or worse, deeply human. This book compiles some of Dazai's most human aspects from biographies and explanatory materials. It's quite humorous to learn that he was a surprisingly big eater, that he hated dogs, and that he struggled during his time in Kofu, where there were many dogs. It's well known that he struggled with relationships, but this is evident everywhere, both in his daily life and in his writing, eliciting a wry smile and a sense of familiarity. Chapter 3 includes reminiscences by three writers who were close friends with Dazai: Toyoshima Yoshio, Sakaguchi Ango, and Tanaka Hidemitsu.
