Application Method
Substrate Preparation
- The gaps between the tiles should be thoroughly cleaned. They should be of equal depth – excess adhesive should be removed as the tiles are laid. Immediately before grouting, clean the tile surface with a damp sponge. In the case of excessively dry tiles, slightly dampen the joints to limit and even out the substrate's absorbency.
Grout Preparation
- Pour the contents of the package into a container with a measured amount of clean water (proportions given in the Technical Data) and mix until a uniform consistency is achieved. This can be done manually or mechanically. The mass is ready to use after approximately 5 minutes and after remixing. It should be used within approximately 60 minutes. Do not add water or dry powder to the prepared mortar.
Grouting
- The grout should be applied deeply and tightly into the joints using a rubber trowel. The trowel should be moved diagonally to the edges of the tiles, holding it at an angle of approximately 45° to the surface of the floor covering.
Cleaning
- Cleaning consists of three stages: pre-washing, profiling, and final washing.
Pre-washing
- After matting the grout in the gaps between the tiles, wash the entire floor covering with a damp sponge (usually after 10-30 minutes) to remove dirt and tarnish from the tiles. The sponge should be frequently rinsed in clean water and squeezed thoroughly to avoid adding too much water to the grout. Avoid creating puddles and removing excess water from the grout surface. Excess water while washing can result in an uneven grout color. The time it takes to wash depends on the prevailing temperature and humidity conditions and the type of tile. Starting pre-washing too late (after the grout has started to set) may result in a grout shade different from that shown in the sample.
Profiling
- This is usually performed during the pre-washing stage, before the grout has hardened. For profiling, use tile sponges slightly dampened with water.
Final washing
- This is performed after the grout has hardened, after 4-8 hours. It involves washing the entire surface of the cladding again with a damp sponge.
Care
- The grout should be protected from drying out too quickly.
Using the cladding
- Light foot traffic is possible after approximately 12 hours after grouting. The grouted surface can be fully loaded after approximately 24 hours.
