- From Designer Shinichi Iwami of Aerobase This is the first airplane I designed after founding Aerobase in 1996 after retiring from Tamiya. I wondered if it would be possible to create a model that allowed people to enjoy building the complex framework of an airplane without using special tools. The inspiration came from the ancient Japanese art of folding paper cranes. At first glance, it may not look like it's made from a single piece of paper, but anyone can fold it once they learn how. This is the Aerobase design concept. All Aerobase airplane models are based on real life objects. The model incorporates research from museums in Germany and the United States.
